Sleep training can be extra confusing because...
Information overload + contradictory & misinformed social media messaging
Like anything, there can be some passionate opinions about sleep training. It’s crucial to follow the research and know that sleep training is a safe and effective way to help your child get the sleep they need. We follow all current research and Health Canada guidelines for safe infant sleep. Our team includes registered social workers, postpartum support workers and sleep consultants.
Sleep deprivation can have a serious effect on babies and parents, causing a range of challenges.
- Increased stress and anxiety
- Difficulty concentrating and impaired decision-making
- Irritability and mood swings, leading to strained relationships
- Physical exhaustion, weakening the immune system
- Higher risk of postpartum depression and mental health issues
- Reduced patience and ability to respond calmly to the baby’s needs

Module One
Bedtime Routines
This module focuses on the importance of establishing a consistent bedtime routine for your baby. While the length of the routine isn’t as important as the order of steps, it’s essential to be consistent from the start. Consider your baby’s special needs and other children when creating the routine, incorporating activities like massage, physiotherapy, or sibling stories.
- Establish a consistent and calming bedtime routine that works for your family.
- Adapt your routine to meet your baby's needs while promoting better sleep.
Module Two
Night Waking
This module guides you through managing night wakings and feeding times. It emphasizes pre-planning feeding schedules, waiting a few minutes before responding to night wakings, and sticking to your decision to avoid confusion. It also covers when to start the day and how to handle early morning or late-night feedings.
- Set a clear feeding plan to reduce nighttime decision-making.
- Handle night wakings consistently for better sleep.
Module Three
Early Risers
This module addresses early morning wake-ups, which can become a common issue as your baby’s sleep consolidates. While it’s normal for early wakings to happen temporarily, if they persist beyond a couple of weeks, there are strategies to help. We define "early" mornings as before 6am.
- Learn strategies to handle early morning wake-ups effectively.
- Discover when and how to address persistent early morning issues.
Module Four
Nap Time
This module focuses on creating a consistent nap-time routine and handling short nap challenges. While nap length may be short at first, the good news is it improves over time. If your baby doesn’t sleep after the first attempt, try again or consider a stroller or car ride.
- Establish a consistent naptime routine for better sleep.
- Be patient as nap length improves with time.
